In all the cells we examined, we observed an exchange between a pair of homologous chromosomes resulting in two chromosomes with unequal arms: one with an abnormally long arm and the other with an abnormally short arm. The chromosomes involved in this exchange are presumably the second chromosomes: these chromosomes are characterized by poorly fluorescent pericentromeric regions, while the third chromosomes exhibit DAPI-bright heterochromatic blocks near the centromeres. Finally, the cells of this line exhibit a variable number of dot chromosomes.
