Karyotype
This line was haploid when it was established. Like other lines, it may go back in forth in ploidy (by factors of two), depending on the growth conditions and the general health of the cells. The karyotype shown in the photo gallery was obtained from cells which had been shipped from Bloomington to Rome a week or two before being karyotyped. If your experiment requires that the cells be haploid, be sure to check the karyotype before doing the experiment.

Note
Replacement for line D. This is a separate isolate of the same line that we previously distributed as "D". Our D cells had become diploid (by flow cytometry assay); by the same assay, 1182-4H is still haploid.

sex
1182-4H cells are female, by criteria of the expression levels of roX gene, msl-2 and traF, and the splicing patterns of tra and Sxl (Lee et al., 2014). The assignment was confirmed by roX gene expression and Sxl splicing (Stoiber et al., 2016).
