An isolate of S2 cells that was found in the Miyake laboratory freezer. It was contributed to the Miyake lab by Imogene Schneider and is likely to be very similar to the original S2 line.

Sex
S2R+ cells are male, by criteria of the expression levels of roX gene, msl-2 and traF, and the splicing patterns of tra and Sxl (Lee et al., 2014).
