Adheres extremely strongly to substrate. They can be removed relatively easily if they are allowed to grow to a high density (more than a single layer of cells), before attempting to dislodge them from the plate. Trypsinizing helps slightly; using a cell scraper helps a bit more. Combining trypsinization and scraping gets the cells efficiently off the surface, but at the cost of disrupting a significant number of cells. Overall, we recommend using a cell scraper, and if possible, waiting until the cells are fairly dense before trying to transfer them.
